I got another answer by Richard Stallman:

[[[ To any NSA and FBI agents reading my email: please consider ]]]
[[[ whether defending the US Constitution against all enemies, ]]]
[[[ foreign or domestic, requires you to follow Snowden's example. ]]]

I will ask our lawyer what we should do.

This is the translation of my letter to the lawyer Till Jaeger into English:

Dear Mr. Jaeger,

I've probably given up too early.
After having yielded to the conditions of Zuken's lawyers, and after
the FSF is ready to provide me a lawyer,
what is important to the public in this litigation, could be clarified
without straining my nerves excessively.

Also it would be of great interest to the public, to get to know your
opinion
as an expert in this matter.

For a first description of the situation from my point of view, see
my message at
https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/kic ... ages/18130

What worries me somehow concerning this message is, that I brought my
private home-written Java code into the Zuken company
just before Zuken dismissed me 13 years ago.

But this code was certainly never used by Zuken in any form,
probably Zuken does not know even of its existence any more.

In any case, this has nothing to do with the allegations in the letter
of
Zuken's lawyers.
At the locations indicated by Zuken in their letter there cannot exist
any copyright infringement in my
opinion.

I myself have asked already Zuken's lawyers to specify some specific
locations in the source code,
where in their opinion such a copyright infringement may exist, but so
far I received no response.

If Zuken cannot specify any specific locations, then their assertion of
a copyright infringement is unfounded in my opinion.

Should contrary to all expectations there exist a few such locations,
then the corresponding source files could be removed from the
Freerouting project.
Then the entire remaining portion of project could be preserved for the
public
without being stained with a potential copyright infringement.

After this brief description of the situation from my point of view,
I am looking forward to your advice how to proceed best in this matter.

P. S. I have appended another copy of the letter of Zuken's lawyers.

Sincerely,

Alfons Wirtz

and this is the response of Richard Stallman:

[[[ To any NSA and FBI agents reading my email: please consider ]]]
[[[ whether defending the US Constitution against all enemies, ]]]
[[[ foreign or domestic, requires you to follow Snowden's example. ]]]

Thanks. I sent a copy of that to Eben Moglen.

I have asked him to think about what is the best strategy.

Glad to her that there is some positive progress! Please give all this a chance :)

You have probably already learned that there is a lot of interested in this project, lots of people are using this and hopefully a functional community would be established once the current legal issues are over.

Good luck. Open source for the win... Patents no longer work to help the world progress.

Guess not. I'm hopeful though, FreeRouting has been so useful to me. I have yet to see another package produce better results.

I know the source made it out to github. hopefully someone will pick it up and put it back into active development.
